I am the BearMaiden, and I love what I do. My friends call me Jesi.
I was born in NYC but grew up in Jamaica, WI, which is my heart home. I’ve been taking photographs since I was 13 when my dad got me a completely analog Meikai 35mm film camera for my birthday. He taught me how tell the stories with pictures that words are sometimes not enough for.
A second-generation artist, I rebelled against the family business for a number of years and worked corporate jobs. I have been a sales assistant at some well-known cable TV networks and a Helpdesk manager at a couple of financial firms. Then I had a baby and along with him came the overwhelming desire to return to my creative roots.
The events of 9/11 convinced me that life was too short to NOT do what I loved. So I attended Pratt Institute and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration, but through all this, I’ve never stopped taking photographs.
Because I truly love taking pictures. I take pictures of everything, but I particularly enjoy weddings. It’s the best of all possible worlds; I get to go to a great celebration, I meet amazing people AND I get to tell their stories with pictures.
